Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is thrust into a high-level position she is unqualified for in the midst of an international crisis, with tectonic effects on her marriage and political future. The producers convinced the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life locations as filming locations for the series, including the newly opened American embassy (in Nine Elms) in 2018. Britain allowed filming in the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor for a film or screen production, especially an American one.
Although accurately described as occupying the largest residential property in London (11 acres) next to Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes. It can be seen at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). I watched The Night Agent in one sitting and thought it couldn’t get much better, but I was wrong.
Everything you could want in a series. The characters and acting were top notch. It was so great to see the wonderful Rufus Sewell again and the role he played, not knowing what he was going to do next.
Keri Russell was amazing as the ambassador. I also really liked David Gyasi. Overall a wonderful series, maybe a little short, but definitely worth watching.
Excellent!
