Gunn himself then greenlit the project when he became CEO of DC Studios. Series writer and creator James Gunn appears in the opening credits with a laptop writing a script.
. Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: The Return of the King (of the Hill) (2023). After three episodes, I find it to be a lot of fun – the soundtrack is fantastic, setting the perfect tone for each scene, and the dialogue is sharp and engaging, with characters that feel distinct and well-written.
The animation quality is excellent, showcasing vibrant visuals and smooth movements that bring the story to life. However, the unnecessary sex and excessive gore feel overdone and detract from the overall experience. I don’t know if it might appeal to a certain audience, but it doesn’t add any value to the story.
However, it’s still an incredibly entertaining show with a strong pace, likable characters, and plenty of exciting moments that keep me hooked. For now, I’d give it an 8/10, as it’s close to perfect but hampered by these unnecessary elements. If it continues to focus on its strengths – great storytelling, visuals, and characters – it could easily become one of my favorite DC animated series.
